During my second year of university we had the opportunity to take an existing website from a business of our choice and create a concept redesign using HTML & CSS. This project was done with a team of 4 and we chose The Sock Factory (we did not make the site to be used by them). A little bit of background on The Sock Factory, they are a small business located in Waterloo, they sell a variety of socks, but the bulk of them are the patterned ones.
Our process for redesigning was broken down into 3 phases, where we researched and broke down the site, wire-framed and mocked up designs, and eventually implemented our new design using HTML & CSS. My focus throughout this process was creating the design, photographing product pictures, and coding 2 of the pages (Home and Best Sellers).
Overall, this was an excellent learning experience. It really challenged us to work effectively as a team in a time restricted environment.
